Help the Aurora Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger!!
On Saturday, May 8, 2010, the Aurora Letter Carriers (NALC, Local
219) held their annual Aurora Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. As part of a national effort, which took place in 10,000
communities across the United States, the Letter Carriers food Drive is an important resource in combating hunger right here
in our own community.
The Aurora Letter Carriers delivered 35,000 pounds of food to the Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry,
which was used to feed people living in our community who cannot afford to adequately meet their food needs with their own
resources.
Requests for food assistance have doubled at the Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry within the last
year. The Stamp Out Hunger food drive is an important event that helps the Pantry continue to meet this growing need.
The Pantry would like
to thank the Aurora Letter Carriers for this effort, as well as all who contributed to this event and helped make it a success.
