H.A.M. on Hunger
Now is your chance to join Aurora Food Pantry and hunger charities across the country in raising awareness about hunger in America. September is Hunger Action Month and we need you to help us spread the word.
More than 49 million Americans, including 16 million children, do not get the nutritious food they need to live a healthy and productive life. The mission of Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry is to help end local hunger by ensuring that everyone has access to enough nourishing food, thereby helping our overall community stay healthy and productive.
During Hunger Action Month, you can help fight food insecurity by using your social media pages as a force for good. Share our posts to inform your friends and family about your neighbors in need, how they can help out or shop our free market if they need food.
During the entire month of September, we will be preparing for our fall needs by collecting frozen turkeys and hams as well as all of the other traditional fixin’s for our Thanksgiving and Christmas meal distributions. If you would like to host a frozen turkey or ham drive, please contact Alia Rivera at firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule our refrigerated truck to be on-site.
There’s lots you can do to help end hunger in our community, including:
- Make a donation to the pantry
- Host a food drive at your office, church, or school
- Become a volunteer
- Donate produce from your home garden or farm
- Wear orange to spread awareness
- Ask your employees to donate (If you want to be extra nice, you can match their contributions)
