Senior Meal Distributions

State Representatives Barbara Hernandez, Keith Wheeler, Stephanie Kifowit, and the Kane Senior Council are hosting several senior meal distribution events throughout 2022.

These events are FREE and will take place at St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church, 1855 5th Ave in Aurora, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM.  Each registered senior will receive 5 frozen meals.

This is an ongoing event, and there will be two meal distributions per month through October. Remaining meal distribution dates (all Mondays):

  • April 11th & 25th
  • May 9th & 23rd
  • June 13th & 27th
  • July 11th & 25th
  • August 8th & 22nd
  • September 12th & 26th
  • October 3rd & 24th

Registration is required, please contact contact the office of State Representative Barbara Hernandez  at (630) 270-1848 at least 4 days in advance to register. Please state whether you are signing up for one date or for multiple dates.

Internet Service Credit

The federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) provides eligible low-income households a credit up to $30 a month toward the cost of Internet service ($75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands). Participants in the program can apply the ACP credit toward the cost of participating plans from a variety of Internet service providers, including Comcast, as well as mobile services. Households that choose plans that cost $30/month or less will essentially receive their service for free.

More than 10 million Americans have already signed up for the ACP. Learn more about eligibility, how to apply and available plans at www.xfinity.com/acp.

PC’s for People

PC’s for People will be at the Aurora Food Pantry on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Eligible customers can receive free or low-cost computers or internet services.
