1 in 5 Residents Being Tested for COVID are Positive

The Kane County Health Department encourages residents to be extra cautious amid record numbers of COVID cases.

KCHD Press Release

January 5, 2022 – Kane County Health Department (KCHD) is reporting that one in five residents being tested for COVID are positive. Kane County is averaging over 900 new COVID cases per day over the past week, while hospitalizations due to COVID have more than doubled over the past month.

“We want to let our residents know that the potential to come into contact with someone with COVID is higher than it has ever been. We hope this information will be helpful in making decisions whether to be around others over the next few weeks,” said Kane County Board Chair Corinne Pierog. “I would like to encourage our residents to wear a mask, practice social distancing and get vaccinated.”

KCHD continues to offer a full range of COVID vaccines for those five and older at the Kane Vax Hub in Batavia. Check KaneVax.org for availability.

In addition, KCHD has identified more than 90 Kane County community partners that also provide COVID-19 vaccine. An updated list is available online at KaneHealth.com.
