Healthy Cents Classes

Join the U of I Extension at Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry for the free Healthy Cents series and cooking demonstrations! Offered in English and en Espanol from 8:30-9:30 AM. Participants will be first in line for shopping at the food pantry.

Closed Monday, October 10

The Aurora Food Pantry will be closed in observance of Indigenous Peoples’ and Columbus Day on Monday, October 10, 2022.

Third Annual Trunk-or-Treat

The Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry will host its third annual Trunk or Treat event on Friday, October 28, 2022 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the Spartan Athletic Field! The free drive-through trick-or-treating event is open to the community.
Local businesses and organizations will be handing out candy and other goodies!

Plastic/Paper Bags Needed

During distribution, we use plastic bags to carry groceries. We are running low and are seeking donations or providing your own for upcoming distributions. Thank you!

Afternoon Distribution

Afternoon distributions will happen on the third Tuesday of every month from 2:00-6:00 PM. Please note, that there will not be a distribution from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM on these dates. 
  • Tuesday, October 18, 2022
  • Tuesday, November 15, 2022
  • Tuesday, December 20, 2022

Senior Meal Distributions

State Representatives Barbara Hernandez, Keith Wheeler, Stephanie Kifowit, and the Kane Senior Council are hosting several senior meal distribution events throughout 2022.

These events are FREE and will take place at St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church, 1855 5th Ave in Aurora, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM.  Each registered senior will receive 5 frozen meals.

This is an ongoing event, and there will be two meal distributions per month through October. Remaining meal distribution dates (all Mondays):

  • October 3rd & 24th

Registration is required, please contact the office of State Representative Barbara Hernandez at (630) 270-1848 at least 4 days in advance to register. Please state whether you are signing up for one date or for multiple dates.
